Nawaz acquitted in plot allotment reference

An accountability court in Lahore has acquitted PML-N supreme leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif in a plot allotment reference. Accountability court judge Rao Abdul Jabbar announced the short order and acquitted the PML-N supremo while deciding different objection applications. The objection pleas had been filed by Yousaf Abbas and other relatives of Nawaz, against auction of assets owned by him. In his final arguments, the petitioners' counsel argued that the court had declared Nawaz an absconder over non-appearance in the matter and ordered to auction his properties. He submitted that rights of his clients would also be affected if the properties of the former premier were auctioned. The counsel maintained that Nawaz did not play any role in the allotment of plots, noting that the court had acquitted all other accused. (With input from APP)
